Memory Cafe

Welcome to the Barnstaple & South Molton Memory Cafes

The Barnstaple and South Molton Memory Cafes meet monthly on market days and are for men and women living with dementia or memory problems and their loved ones or carers. The Cafes are run on a friendly and informal basis by a Coordinator and trained and experienced volunteers and are a great place to make friends. We provide  refreshments and activities, as well as a time to relax and have fun in a supportive environment. We also can help you access other agencies to meet your needs. Visitors and new members are always very welcome.

The Cafes are self-funding projects within Torridge, North, Mid & West Devon Citizens Advice.

There are three Café sessions:

The Henry Williamson Room,  Barnstaple Library,  Tuly Street,  Barnstaple EX31 1EL

The Quiet Memory Café is specifically for people with dementia and hearing problems or a sensitivity to noise. Many people find that their hearing aids often make it difficult to cope with background noise and chatter so we create a peaceful environment and provide activities like painting, colouring and drawing, jigsaw puzzles and games and storytelling. Volunteers sit with Cafe members and they often do the activities together. The venue has wheelchair access and a lift.

New members are welcome to come to one or both of the Barnstaple Memory Cafes.
