Volunteers needed in Mid Devon
We're on the hunt for volunteers!
Torridge, North, Mid and West Devon Citizens Advice offers free, confidential and impartial advice from 11 offices across Devon, supporting residents with around 25,000 individual issues each year.
We are looking for volunteers to join our friendly and enthusiastic teams to offer advice and support to the community. As a backbone of the service, volunteers perform all sorts of roles from Advising, to Administration, IT support, Research & Campaigning and Trusteeships. We are looking for people to become Advisers by undertaking the renowned and in-depth training provided by Citizens Advice. Full expenses are provided as well as ongoing support and coaching. Internal research has found that as well as giving a lot, volunteers get a lot in return:
- 9 in 10 volunteers gained knowledge of local issues and felt more engaged with their community
- 9 in 10 felt better equipped and empowered to deal with issues in their lives with 4 in 5 also helping friends and families
- Nearly a third of volunteers who leave Citizens Advice go on to paid employment or full time education
Vicki Rowe, Chief Executive of TNMWD Citizens Advicesaid:
“Our volunteers are vital to the way we deliver our service, we really could not help all the local people we do without them. They work tirelessly to support members of the public with many areas of concern from debt and employment to the continually changing Benefit system and housing.
We are looking for people with availability for one day a week who have good communication and computer skills and who would like to offer support to the local community. If you would like a satisfying challenge that enables you to meet a range of people and give something back to the public, please do get in touch.”
Training begins in October 2016. For more information or for an application pack, please email [email protected] or call 01237 426070
